- Nsit Ubium Lawmaker Sponsors 20 youths on Agric Devt Programme
About 20 youths from Nsit Ubium local government area are currently undergoing training in various areas of agricultural skill development programme. The youths who are sponsored by the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr) Otobong Bob, are undergoing the 5-day intensive training in Abia state.
The youths are being trained in skill sets including animal husbandry, fish farming, snailry, poultry and other areas of agriculture for self-sufficiency.
A statement on Friday by the SA to the honourable member, Mr Anietie Akpan, indicated that since his emergence, Hon. Bob has continued to empower the youths of the local government area through capacity building programmes in productive sectors.
The statement added that the lawmaker has also secured at least 50 private sector employment for indigenes of the local government.
The 20 youths are expected back in the state later this week and will be ready to take advantage of government and World Bank assisted programmes aimed at growing entrepreneurship in agriculture.
The lawmaker has continued to harp on the need to self-employment through agriculture and building small and medium scale enterprises.
